The writing was on the wall...actually the escalator. Before Matt Cornelison started the company he was afraid the name “Fungi” was too weird for most people. One day he stepped off the el train and onto the escalator where he saw a word spray painted on the step…“Fungi”. He quickly snapped this pic and officially incorporated the next day. Crazy right?
Fungi Media was founded in 2017 by Matt Cornelison. Today it’s a growing and thriving business. But the mission is more personal. At the core, we believe everyone has a deep desire to simply be heard and make meaningful connections with their community. This can only happen when they are able to express themselves in their own way through powerful, authentic and sometimes even fun stories.
This is why the storyteller plays such an important role. It’s why Fungi founder Matt Cornelison spent his life doing it as a filmmaker. And it’s why he created a business to help brands and purpose-driven organizations do the same.
